Easy tomato pulao

Lunch box ideas, these recipes calls for simple ingredients which uses one pot.  Enjoy Indian lunch everyday.

Tomato pulao:

This is a simple way to make tomato pulao. There are so many variation. This recipe serves 2 and take 10 min overall.


1 cup Rice
1 Tomato
1 Onions, peeled and sliced
3 cloves of garlic. 
1 tsp - sambar powder. - If you are not using sambar powder, you can add half a tsp of chili powder and 1 tsp of coriander powder.
half a tsp - garam masala.


Fry onions and garlic, add salt.
When the onions are cooked, add tomatoes.

Add garam masala

Fry all the ingredients for 3 mins on medium high.

Add 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water.

Cover and cook for 5 - 7 min or 1 whistle in medium low.
I am using 1 cup rice in a 3 ltr pressure cooker. Increase the time according to the quantity.

Hot steamed pulao is ready for lunch. Add ghee for some more flavor.

Serve with onion raita and chips.
