Any type of sundal for ganesh chaturthi is another favourite recipe. Sundal is nothing but seasoned dal(pulses). You need to soak the dal day before(8 hrs) for making sundal but this recipe chana dal sundal needs no soaking but just a pressure cooker. 


Chana Dal - 1 cup
water - 2.5 cup.
Turmeric powder - half tsp.

grated coconut 2 tbsp
cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
mustard seeds 1/2 tsp.
Asafoetida / Hing - 1/2 tsp
Dry red chili  - 4.
salt for taste. 
oil - 2 tsp.  
curry leaves  7-8

Pressure the the chana dal with salt for 10 min. and drain the water. 
In a pan, heat 2 tsp of oil.
When the oil of hot add all the seasoning ingredients except  coconut. wait until the mustard seeds pop and crackle.
Remove from heat and add the coconut flakes. 
Stir for a minute and add the drained chana dal. Toss everything together on medium high for 3 min. 
Chana dal sundal is ready.
