Gobi Matar Paneer

Step by step making

Restaurant style gobi matar paneer is everyone favorite. Its awesome because its not just delicious and rich but also easy to make. This is a north Indian dish, served hot with Naan, roti or steamed rice. Paneer is Indian cottage cheese, you can find this in any Indian grocery store or in any super market in frozen section along with other cheese. Paneer is Indian cottage cheese different from cottage cheese curds.
Paneer - approx. 15 pieces. sliced 1/4 inch thick.
Cauliflower - approx.  15 florets. 
Cooked and frozen green peas -  Half a cup. 
Boil the cauliflower in sauce pan for 5 min or microwave on high for 3-4 min. 
In the same way boil the paneer for 5 min.

Other Ingredients:
ginger minced - 1 tsp
garlic minced 1 tsp
1 medium tomatoes
1 medium onion finely chopped. 

2 tsp - chili powder or reduce according to taste. 
2 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds.
salt for taste. 
coriander leaves for garnishing.


1. In a saute pan, heat 3 tsp of extra virgin olive oil. 
2. Add cumin seeds, wait a minute for the cumin to pop and crackle in the hot oil.
3. Add finely minced ginger and garlic. saute them for a minute to get rid of raw taste. 
4. When the ginger and garlic turns golden brown, add chopped onions and fry the onions until they turn transparent. 
5. Add tomatoes and cover and cook for 3-4 min until the tomatoes are all cooked and soft and juicy. 
6. Add the cauliflower, paneer anc cook cover for 3 min on high. 
7. Uncover the pan and add the thawed green peas. cook uncovered for 5 min on high. 
8. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
