Green Gram Dal (mung bean) Tadka

Green Gram Dal Tadka:


Half a cup - green gram dal.
ginger and garlic minced - 2 tsp.
cumin seeds - 1 tsp. 
1 tomato.
3 tbsp of tamarind extract.
2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp coriander powder.
half a tsp - turmeric powder. 
2 tsp of oil. extra virgin olive oil or sesame oil.

  1. Pressure cook the Dal with 3 cups of water and tomatoes for 12 min. No need to soak the dal.
  2. Mash the Green gram dal to make it mushy and well cooked.
  3. Add the chili powder, coriander and turmeric powder and salt. 
  4. Cook on medium high for 5 min. 
  5. In another pan, heat the oil, add cumin seeds and ginger garlic minced with 2 red round chilies and curry leaves. 
  6. Toss them for 2-3 min to get rid of the garlic flavor. 
  7. Add this seasoning to dal.
  8. Enjoy hot with roti or rice.
